had to repair my rain gear, might need it again CHURCH OF THE LITTLE FLOWER
REV. Bartholomew ibe I listened to the organ play for 10 minutes, 11:50-12:00 what a beautiful sound to hear in such a small town. The town was formed in 1873... Found no date on the church?

3rd leg of the trip 385 miles will put me in Texas, need to recalculate when i will be in Texas, coming up with two different ancwers todays route is about 50 miles; it may end up being as short as 10 miles dependent on weather enjoyed crossing this bridge :-) guess the support was not there or the prices were higher than the owner thought???? Mr Wilbert Trueblood... Kind gentleman i met why waiting for the rainto stop in Batchelor Louisiana, 78 years old, gets around better than i do. Relocated to this community from New Orleans after the hurricane. A man you suspect of having so much information and stories to pass along, couple chairs on a porch and open the ears.... one patch is for something sharp, defect in manufacture, the other because i hit something sharp and "pow" flat tire :-) i di have an extra tire with me, saving it for hard times
Had to use the spare!!! WOW!!!!!!!! What a shock!!!! Staying in a hotel tonight, if you can call it that, i am going to use my sleeping bag on the bed.... I am going to use my laundry bag as a pillow... I may even use the water in the camel back Bill gave me rather than what is in or comes out of the sink... If i get out of bed to go to the bathroom, may just hold it until i find a tree or bucket tomorrow... I will put my shoes on... Why am i staying in this room, tornado warnings, storm warnings and 30 miles to the next hotel.... Now i have stayed in some pretty bad places, one in Nevada i will never forget, few overseas, they were tents but nothing like this... The only good thing is ican now say the worst hotel i ever stayed in was when riding a bike cross country in Louisiana The ride today was fantastic, crossed two big bridges, a causeway and road some beautiful back roads. The roads here in Louisiana continue to be the best so far, one little stretch was gravel but i had been warned about that section by a sheriff who stopped to assist me when my front tire blew out.... Had to use myspare... Changed a tube also, slow leak in the back tire, holding off on replacing it, want to put a new tire on the back too. I seen a bald eagles nest as i was crossing the causeway, birds everywhere, redwing blackbirds seem to be gathering for their trip north, so many of them...also seen turtles and snakes crossing the causeway, imagine the high water in this area forced the snakes to the higher ground. One section ofthe ride was very enlightening, i seen some pretty poverty stricken areas, earlier i had talked to some locals who said work was hard to get here, the folks i talked to were asking anyone driving a truck that pulled into the station we were at if they had any work or knew of anyone needing help. Farming seems to be the driving force behind the local economy... going to start late today, foggy out.... Kind of goes with the towns name Amite!!!! peaceful looking their view i will not even get started on this!!! The only thing i am curious is about the signs around the swamp? DMAP POSTED ??? established 1883 The Amite River had a good ride, roads for the most part were flat.... See if i can figure out the elevation for i had swamps on both sides of me for several miles today. Calling for rain tonight, not sure what the weather is going to be for tomorrow, at the hotel in Amite the weather report was for severe storms/tornados.... I have hopes of all of that being east of me, if so i will continue riding tomorrow, if not i will get a room and wait it out... the remains of a country gas station
